Operation Christmas Child

In an effort to teach our children more about the true meaning of Christmas and because we have more than we could ever need, we put together boxes for Operation Christmas Child Ministries. We headed to the store with a shoe box (to be sure our choices fit) and some ideas of what to get for a girl Kailyn's age and a boy Will's age. Kailyn had a great time picking out things that she would love to recieve and Will didn't quite understand the concept at all. As a matter of fact, we used the words "picking out toys for your little boy." He then proceded to tell us (while in the store) which boy he wanted (the one walking past us with his parents) :) We will be able to track our boxes and even included a letter from each of the children, so we'll see how God uses them:)

Leaves Galore!

A few weeks ago found all my main men working to clean the leaves out of our yard. Will even joined in with his little blower and ear muffs.....too precious!Fireman boots and all.......love these moments when they happen:)

Family Farm Fun!

Saturday we headed to Post Family Farm to meet my sister and her kids and what was supposed to be my mom, but ended up being my dad and brother due to my mom feeling under the weather. Of course we had to partake in some delicious pumpkin donuts before getting started, so that's what we did!The kids loved feeding the goats.
Another highlight, for sure, was the pumpkin train. Will couldn't hardly wait to ride it.....and of course it was pulled by a John Deere lawn tractor:)The boys and the girls playing around on the rusty old tractor.
All the grandkids.....we would of had to do this shot if my mom was there, but it meant even more to get a decent one because she wasn't there! All ready for the hay ride and the corn maze.Me and my siblings! Our cute little kitty! Everyone, including Kristi and I, got our faces painted before we left.......what a fun morning! Thanks Mom and Dad for treating us to such a special morning which we'll treasure for years:)

The Zoo says "BOO!"

Friday afternoon (after our visit to GVSU), we headed to non other than McD's to meet up with Avery and Jack! Then we went to John Ball Zoo for the Zoo says Boo event. What a blast! The kids got to trick or treat through the woods which were decorated with graveyards, spiders, pumpkins and more. They received tons of goodies and even got to see a few of the more active animals:)Girls....did you see the big spider behind you????AARRRRR, matey....the kids found the pirates treasure! My knight in shining armour slaying the dragon! All of the kids (except Will) made a creepy creature craft.....they turned out pretty kooky.Jack was Buzz (obviously), but he'd randomly walk up to people and puff out his chest like this and just look at them.....it was hilarious! The zoo definitely says "BOO!" We'll be sure to mark this event on our calendars for years to come! Thanks Andrea for suggesting it:)

Treats Please!

What kid doesn't want to be in their halloween costume for a whole day???? Well, that's exactly what we did last Friday:) In the morning we headed to GVSU (my old stomping grounds) to trick or treat with the preschoolers. My friend Lindsey's mom works in the library and they just tag along with the other kids. It was a blast seeing all the different kids costumes and of course all the candy! The sparkle bride and knight in shining armour!
Kaitlyn and Kelsey were both clowns....thanks again Lindsey for inviting us to tag-along this year...I know I'm enjoying all the candy (maybe alittle too much)!

Down by the Fire Station:)

Last week we did a fire safety theme for school and were blessed to be able to go on our first field trip this year to the Allendale Fire Station, where my friend Lindsey, gave the kids a mini fire safety lesson and let the kids sit in a few of the engines!!! They had both hoped they would be able to try on a real fire helmet!Trying to lift the oxygen tank....boy was it heavy!
Kailyn and Kaitlyn to the rescue:)What a great morning....and thanks again Lindsey for taking the time to put that lesson together and giving us a tour!!!!
